The Donkey Sanctuary is a working refuge for rescued Donkeys but is also a popular place for a day trip in South Devon. The site will appeal to animal lovers of all ages and gives visitors the chance to meet some of the friendly animals and also learn about the work done at the sanctuary. Visitors will also have the opportunity to adopt a Donkey.
Woodlands in Dartmouth is a fantastic theme park with non stop fun for everyone. It's also home to the UK's biggest indoor venture centre. Some of the most thrilling rides are the Cyclone Watercoasters, the Sidewinder and The Mighty Twister. For younger children there is the Golden Bear City - a superb wild west world with a school house, farm and much more. Exmoor Zoo is described as a "family zoo" on their website and it certainly makes a great day out for families. There are many exotic and rare animals as well as birds to see which are living in natural surroundings. Some recent improvements at the zoo include a new 5 metre tower at the cheetahs and raised walkways at the "beast". There is also a new viewing platform over the sitatunga. As well as the amazing animals to experience there are regular fun activities such as face painting, daily events and zoo trails.
This year round attraction has been described as Devon's most magnificent historic gardens. Located in the Otter Valley area of East Devon you can enjoy a fun day out in a picturesque setting. Highlights include historic Palm house, containing some of the world’s most endangered species and Bicton Woodland Railway - which takes you on a 25 minute journey through the lovely grounds. For children there is a miniature village with mini golf, nature trail and indoor play area.
