Close to many of Suffolk's coastal towns, Claywood Retreat Lodges sit in peaceful woodland and offer a range of activities from golf to clay pigeon shooting. Nearby Southwold has a fabulous seafront, a busy harbour and some great shops, while a walk around the fens at Darsham Marshes nature reserve could produce sightings of reed warblers, otters and water voles.

Each lodge overlooks a stunning 9-hole golf course and the park has access to the High Lodge Leisure club where there's a restaurant and bar and fishing in the lakes. Darsham has several village pubs, including The Fox Inn that serves good food every night - and if you want to buy freshly caught crab and lobster, head to Aldeburgh, where you can also enjoy some lovely walks.

These stunning lodges all have private outdoor hot tubs. Claywood Two is beautifully designed and furnished to a very high standard. It has a master king size double room with an ensuite two person walk-in shower, a contemporary and spacious open plan lounge/kitchen, a large flat screen TV and gorgeous chunky sofas, perfect for relaxing into.

You can hire a rowing boat on The Meare at Thorpeness or relax on a guided trip up the River Alde at Aldeburgh, where you can also amuse yourselves with live concerts, brewery tours and fine dining.

Our Top Tip
"The Martello Towers were built to keep Napoleon out and you can view these fabulous structures whilst taking a gentle walk along the Suffolk coastline."

Fun Days Out in Suffolk

Africa Alive is one of Suffolk's largest attractions and one of the most popular in the whole of the UK.  The Africa themed park is very unique and gives visitors the chance to see some amazing creatures in a habitat which is as close to nature as possible. The park can be explored by car and on foot and Hyenas and Giraffes are just some of the animals you will encounter as you make your way around the park. Watch out for the lightning fast Cheetahs and keep your eyes peeled to spot the more reclusive creatures. During a day at Africa Alive there will be plenty of shows and educational talks taking place and if the weather turns then the indoor Adventure Play Ground comes in very handy. The site also has a well stocked Gift Shop and a Discovery Centre.

Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park is an amazing 50 acres area of stunning coastal parkland and is packed with family friendly rides and attractions. This park is an excellent choice for families with children of varied ages as there are a number of small rides for the little ones as well as some adrenaline boosting white knuckle rides for teenagers. As well as rides the site hosts some fantastic shows including the ever popular Sea Lion and Parrot encounters. At Halloween, Christmas and Easter other themed shows can also be enjoyed.  The site also has a good range of places to eat and drink whether you are looking to spend a leisurely hour relaxing with a meal or just grab a quick snack.

We had an excellent holiday, we achived what we had planned complete relaxation, if it was not for the need of having to get back for a pre arranged meeting on the Sunday we would have seen about being able to stay on a little longer.

We had a fantastic holiday. The place is great and very relaxing. The staff attentive and the surroundings beautiful. The lodge is huge, very comfortable and has everything you need and to top it off you have a hot tub which is hassle free to use any time of day. Highly recommend
David
Had such a good holiday, girls in the hot-tub every day whilst I was on the golf course!!
Lorraine
Lovely place
Nathan
Great lodge but very close to the road. So can be noisey. Apart from that very nice.
Peter
We ought to have been told of the Shooting Event that went on all day on one occasion. Our disabled son was worried by the noise for some time. That apart the location was good.
Andrew
We had the best time ever it was our 25th wedding anniversary and both of us could not think of anywhere else we would of rather been we had 4 fabulous days and the hot tub was amazing we loved it so much we have already booked for next year we can't wait the staff are all lovely and friendly thank you so much Julie last
Natalie
A lovely lodge, the staff were great and it was very peaceful and clean. The only downside is the sound of the clay pigeon shooting which we could hear from our lodge and could be irritating with the patio doors open in the day.
Paula
Lovely place to unwind and relax. Shooting ranges very good. Footgolf for younger was fun and a good idea.
Brenda
Lovely peaceful holidayđŸ˜€ Beautiful clean and spacious lodge. Could use something to entertain children, perhaps a play area.
