Described as a "blissful escape" we couldn't agree more! Hawkchurch Resort and Spa is indeed a delightful Haven nestled amongst trees and with amazing views over the Axe Valley.  You can really switch off and relax here especially with the help of the New Luxury Spa.  Or you might prefer to venture out and explore this gorgeous area of South Devon - there is so much to see and do here.

The lodges themselves are luxurious and opulent. The Premier Lodges such as the Quinn Premier and the Austen Premier come with private outdoor hot tubs.  The Quinn Premier is a fabulous retreat for couples with one double bedroom and a fresh modern interior, perfect for romantic breaks.  The Austen Premier sleeps up to 8 so would be a great choice for larger parties.

Dorset is full of attractions from theme parks to the fantastic Monkey World. Bovington Tank Museum and the sub tropical gardens at Abbotsbury are also great ideas for days out.  In the summer the beaches in the Dorset area are lovely too.  This area is blessed with outstanding views and opportunities for outdoor pursuits all year round.

Our Top Tip
"Beer Heights Light Railway and PECO Model Railway Exhibition is less than 10 miles away in Pecorama and makes a unique and fun day out. "

Fun Days Out in South Devon

Monkey World is not only a local attraction but the work they carry out is amazing.  Rescuing and rehabilitating monkeys and assisting governments around the world to stop the smuggling of primates are just some of the purposes of the centre. You get to see the primates themselves many of which have become famous from appearing on the TV show Monkey World - a documentary about this place. Open year round we think this is one of best attractions in Dorset and you even get the chance to adopt a monkey if you choose.

This family orientated museum is dedicated to Teddy Bears both old and new Edward Bear and his family of people sized bears are one of the main attractions.  You can buy teddy bear gifts from the quaint shop including top notch brands.  The Steiff Teddy Bear and Merrythought bears are very popular.  Open 7 days a week all year round (except 25th and 26th December) this is a perfect all weather place to visit.

Kingston Maurward Gardens and Animal Park is a magical place to visit with grand gardens and plenty of animals to meet.  From goats and ponies to alpacas and pot bellied pigs this attraction is excellent value for money.  You can feel free to explore the grounds too which are especially lovely on sunny days.  You will see majestic floral displays, stone terraces, a temple and even a lake.

Had a fabulous short break at Hawkchurch Resort. The staff were great, the lodges were well furnished and spacious. The views were fantastic and the location was perfect.

We like a lot of families took our children and there was not an awful lot for them to do at Hawkchurch itself.

The only issue we had was we couldn't stay longer.

Would love to come to stay with you again- thanks for having us. Shame under 16s can't use the facilities i.e. Pool or a manicure with mummy.

The lodge was fairly clean. I'm not a fanatical cleaner myself but I did notice thick dust under the bed and the carpet and furniture was stained in the living area but to be honest it was no big deal.

We loved the lodge. It had everything we needed and was very modern and clean. The board games were a nice touch. Our lodge had lovely views into the distant valley and due to low light pollution the stars were amazing. Beds were comfy, shower and bath options were good. We cooked most days in the lodge and found everything we needed. Next time I would take along some plastic plates and cups for the children as I was always worrying they would smash them. Overall we really enjoyed staying in the lodge and will definitely visit again.

We booked for a long weekend knowing the facilities were limited for our 5 year old granddaughter but she was very happy with the beach at Lyme Regis. We used the spa pool which was lovely and had a very tasty dinner at the restaurant.
Sally
Lovely place and very peaceful and traquil. Ideal base for visiting and exploring places. Great facilities although there was only one slight thing that let it down and that was there was no change of towels or bedding for the 7 days we stayed.
Gary
Amazing place cant wait to go again great lodge and great food
Mark
Lovely friendly park and very clean.helpful staff and comfortable lodges.
Sally-anne
Marple Lodge was lovely. Bar and restaurant both very nice, food was delicious and the service was friendly. Spa pool was very nice but steam room didn't work at all during the 5 days I was there, sauna didn't work 1 day, bubble jets didn't work 1 day. Bit of a pain having to use your lodge towels in the spa. Spa relaxation room was fantastic, restful and peaceful. A lovely quiet site with friendly guests. Great location, fabulous sunsets, a very peaceful place.
