Fun Days Out in Yorkshire Moors and Coast

Jorvik Viking Centre

Jorvik Viking Centre is a fun and educational attraction offering visitors the chance to learn all about the Viking-Age city of Jorvik. Thanks to the Archaeologists from York Archaeological Trust the amazing houses, workshops and backyards of the Viking-Age city of Jorvik are on display and give a clear insight to the way of life all those years ago.  The site aims to offer an interactive experience with the state of the art time capsule and the blacksmith's furnace being the top attractions.

Scarborough Sea Life and Marine Sanctuary
If you are enjoying a lodge break in the Yorkshire Moors and Coast then a day trip to the Scarborough Sea Life and Marine Sanctuary highly recommended. This centre is one of the regions most popular attractions and is educational as well as fun. Visitors will enjoy a journey beneath the waves, meeting many strange, beautiful and fascinating creatures of the deep. As well as mighty sharks and beautiful rays guests can get up close to some more common creatures including star fish and can also meet the otters, seals and penguins at feeding time. The site also has children's play area and picnic tables as well as a restaurant and souvenir shop. Family tickets cost 46.80 but the Tourist Information Centres in Scarborough, Whitby or Filey often offer fantastic discounts.

It was a lovely cabin we stayed in, Had everything we needed in there. Only a few little nags, I don't think the property was thoroughly cleaned before we arrived, we found hairs in the bathroom and stains on the work surfaces also there were a cigarette burn in the sofa even though the cabin is supposed to be smoke free. When we arrived there were lots of bird poo on our patio area, however we spoke to reception and they quickly sent out someone to tidy it. My friend arrived late one evening and due to poor lighting outside and the light not working on the street outside our cabin my friend ended up getting her car stuck in the mud. We did have a good laugh all pushing her car out in our pj's :)
Other than this it was a brilliant getaway and I would highly recommend, the site itself is lovely and there are plenty of trails to follow near by. Really ideal for families. The hotub was a great added bonus and the log fire came in handy after a refreshing cold walk outside by the coast.

I would book again in the future and maybe book a bigger cabin to go with more family/friends.

Thanks for a lovely stay!

After staying here before, We tried the Teal Lodge (no 10) in Feb for our wedding anniversary. Very clean and large lodge, beautiful surroundings on site. Tesco just down the road for supplies. There is nothing on site to do or go but we went for a chill out weekend. The staff are fantastic very helpful. Do take washing up supplies or cleaning, you do get a mini welcome pack. You get towels for the shower/bath but we took our own for the hot tub. The hot tub was over looked but 2 other lodges but it didn't cause us any issues. I have booked again for next year as we enjoy our stay here. Thanks again Lakeside lodges.

Comfortable , spacious, well maintained lodge and hot tub.
Martina
Lovely location, lodge very clean. Easy to find Rooms a great size, ideal for families to share. House warm, great hot tub. Downside sofa very low not ideal for the older person, could do with an outside changing area so you don’t trapse water through one of the bedrooms.
Sarah
