Just a few miles outside of bustling Dumfries, these delightful cottages are set in the grounds of Mouswald Place Mansion House, land that was gifted by Robert the Bruce to the Carruthers family. The landscaped gardens and the views across the Scottish countryside are spectacular and there are loads of beaches and villages to explore nearby.
The Borders region is rich in tradition and heritage with stately homes, ancient fortresses and charming pubs. The Globe Inn in Dumfries is one of Scotland's oldest hostelries - it was the haunt of Robert Burns and serves home made, local pub grub. Sandy Hills beach is perfect for sunbathing and picnics - there's a café, a small shop and plenty of parking.
Glen Cottage is a charming two-storey cottage that sleeps four people in one double bedroom and one twin. It has a wet room and the lounge/dining area is on the first floor. The cottage has a flat screen TV with Freeview and DVD player and it's double-glazed and centrally heated.
The cottages are close to Mouswald village with its pubs, shops and takeaways. There are some fabulous walks - Sandy Hills to Rockcliffe takes you along the top of the cliffs with views out to Cumbria and the Isle of Man.
Landmark Theme Park is a popular family attraction in Scotland and is a great choice for those with children of varied ages. The site is packed with attractions to keep the whole family amused. Landmark is rather unique as a theme park as it is based around nature. Activities include Tree Topping and Rock climbing although there are also some more traditional theme park rides such as a log flume. The park is abundant with nature including Red Squirrels and Clydesdale Horses and there is also a new Pinewood Grill for tasty snacks and a Gift Shop.
The amazing Loudoun Castle Theme Park is the largest in Scotland taking up a staggering 500 acres of glorious countryside. The park is suitable for visitors of all ages and has an excellent choice of rides including thrilling Rollercoasters. The site also hosts some fantastic family shows including the popular 'Walk the Plank' High Dive Show. This place is much more than a theme park though, and younger children in particular will love the Dougal McDougal's farm area where the inhabitants include friendly goats, pigs and llamas as well as rabbits and other small pets.
