For a completely "away from it all" feel we recommend Parmontley Hall Lodges in Northumberland.  The site itself is very tranquil and offers an exclusive base to explore this gorgeous area.  Everything from the Lake District to the lively city of Newcastle is within reach from here.

The lodges themselves come with private outdoor hot tubs, and there's no better way to wind up the day than relaxing with a drink in a hot tub.  The views are spectacular over the Pennines so it's a great place to take in the scenery.

All of the lodges come with flatscreen TV and freeview as standard.  Wifi access is also a real bonus.  The kitchens are really well laid out and equipped for self catering with mod cons including dishwasher and microwave.

We love the Peel Lodge which sleeps 4 and has a modern, spacious living space.  For larger parties Staward Lodge is a great option as it has one double bedrooms and two rooms with bunk beds.

The local area is perfect for exploring.  Some of our favourite days out close to Parmontley Hall Country Lodges are Kielder Water and Forest Park (approx 20 miles away) and Hall Hill Farm in Durham (around 22 miles away).

Our Top Tip
"For a lovely meal out head for Greenchesters Restaurant, situated in Otterburn Hall.  Located 25 miles from the park it's well worth the short drive to taste the delicious food on offer made with quality local produce."

Fun Days Out in Northumberland

With easy access from the A1 this lovely farm just north of Berwick makes a fantastic family day out.  Follow the farm trail and meet an array of friendly farm animals.  Kids will also enjoy the indoor and outdoor play areas, pet barn and tractor circuit.  The admission fee is excellent value and you will get a free bag of food for the animals and a bag of fish food for the trouts in the fish pond. When you want a bite to eat, the licensed restaurant is the place to go with quality home cooking and a charming location in some of the converted farm buildings.

Go Ape! has really taken off and become one of the most popular attractions in the UK.  The Northumberland course is set in the stunning grounds of Matfin Hall.  Described as a high wire forest adventure this really is one for the more daring as the course takes place right up in the tree tops.  Giant tree top obstacle courses include ladders, bridges, tunnels and some of the country's best zip lines.  You will be provided with all safety equipment and training on site.

Amazingly relaxing place. Hot tub was lovely, loads of space between the 4 lodges. Lovey warm welcome. Lovely cosy and warm lodge and great wildlife in peaceful surroundings. Took everything wed need and never left lodge for full weekend. Just a great place to relax and get away fronting everything, already booked for next year again!! Only recommendation is that it could do with a couple of new dining chairs as some had lost their stuffing.

Lovely lodge in beautiful surroundings, although a little remote for us and the 20 minute drive along windy twisty roads out to the main road gets boring after a while.

We have been to this lodge on a number of occasions and always spotless and warm. Anything not correct we just inform the warden and it is delt with as soon as possible. Peace and quite with a hot tub to relax in.

Lovely weekend away for a hen do! The lodge was the perfect size and had been kept in a great condition! The only downside is on 1 of the days, the amount of cleaning product used to clean in the hot tub was very over powering and the bride to be had an allergic reaction! Other than that though, 10/10 for everything else!
Donald
Peaceful and quiet. Lots of wildlife around, great to sit and watch. Staff were excellent.
