Swandown lodges enjoy a unique setting in gorgeous parkland which is actually part of the ancient and well known Cricket St Thomas Estate.  You will be ideally placed for exploring this area of Somerset as well as Dorset.  Part of the exclusive Evermore Collection these stylish lodges are ideal for family holidays as well as romantic breaks.

There are so many amenities on the doorstep but just a few worthy of mention are the indoor heated pool and leisure complex which is the ideal place for relaxing or having a splash around.  Comprising spa, sauna, steam room and even a gym, there is something for everyone.  If you like to get out in the fresh air then bikes are available to hire and you can also indulge in some fishing, nature walks and an outdoor nature trail.

The lodges are some of the best we have seen with contemporary interiors and luxurious features.  We love the Exmoor Lodge at Swandown Lodges - which is new in 2013.  Uber stylish and set out over 2 floors this lodge sleeps up to 6 and offers amazing countryside views from full length cathedral windows.

There are plenty of attractions in the local area. Forde Abbey House and Gardens are well worth a visit and are just 4 miles from Swandown Lodges.  For a fun family day out we recommend Axe Valley Wildlife Park, 11 miles away.

Our Top Tip
"Take a trip to the Jurassic Coastline just 14 miles from this park - a fantastic world heritage site to explore."

Fun Days Out in Dorset

Monkey World is not only a local attraction but the work they carry out is amazing.  Rescuing and rehabilitating monkeys and assisting governments around the world to stop the smuggling of primates are just some of the purposes of the centre. You get to see the primates themselves many of which have become famous from appearing on the TV show Monkey World - a documentary about this place. Open year round we think this is one of best attractions in Dorset and you even get the chance to adopt a monkey if you choose.

This family orientated museum is dedicated to Teddy Bears both old and new Edward Bear and his family of people sized bears are one of the main attractions.  You can buy teddy bear gifts from the quaint shop including top notch brands.  The Steiff Teddy Bear and Merrythought bears are very popular.  Open 7 days a week all year round (except 25th and 26th December) this is a perfect all weather place to visit.

The award wining Court Farm Country Park is the ideal all weather attraction with over 25000sq ft of playgrounds and attractions which are all undercover. Come rain or shine this place is perfect for families and children can really let of steam while adults have some time to relax. The site has several large and safe areas for fun and games, a stunning Adventure Castle with slides and ball pools and a range of small fairground rides. There are also educational shows to see including Milking Show and the twice daily Bottle Feeding Show.

Brean Leisure Park in Somerset is the place to head for family fun. The site has over 130 rides and attractions with something for all ages and abilities. Adults and children alike will love the more traditional fairground rides which include waltzes, roller coasters and of course dodgems! Older kids and teenagers on the hunt for white knuckle attractions can try out the terrifying 'XTreme' ride - 130ft of exciting twists turns and drops. For younger children the Canoe River is one of the most popular rides and the whole family can team up to enjoy the Laser Quest. Other facilities at the park include a Snack Bar serving tasty food to go, a Restaurant for a relaxing sit down dinner and an Amusement Arcade with slot machines and video games.

Kingston Maurward Gardens and Animal Park is a magical place to visit with grand gardens and plenty of animals to meet.  From goats and ponies to alpacas and pot bellied pigs this attraction is excellent value for money.  You can feel free to explore the grounds too which are especially lovely on sunny days.  You will see majestic floral displays, stone terraces, a temple and even a lake.

Beautiful accommodation, very clean and well equipped. Very peaceful environment, wonderful views just what we needed to relax. Staff very welcoming and helpful. We used the bikes which were free of charge and also made use of the indoor pool. We walked to the nearby hotel a couple of times and had spa treatments. We also ate at the Whinwhistle Inn which was good value for the quality of the food. Sunday night is quiz night at the pub and the locals were very friendly. Our party also made use of the local golf club which they said was a good course. Can't wait to go back 😬

Our second stay at Swandown Lodges was as restful and enjoyable as the first, two and a half years ago. The lodges are very well presented, comfortable and finished to a high standard. The views are spectacular. The staff are super-friendly and helpful. We just wish that we could have stayed longer.
Clare
Fantastic lodge in beautiful grounds and the most helpful staff. Nothing was too much for Mat.
Tracy
Excellent! Very comfy and well furnished. The welcoming touch of bread, milk and jam was a nice thought.
Laura
The lodges were amazing they are modern and have everything in them that you need and more. The views are fanatastic. The facilities are brilliant with an onsite swimming pool, bikes to hire out for free, games and dvds you can rent out for free. Also being able to use the hotel facilities is an added bonus. The location of the lodges are great not far from the coast and other big towns.
Gary
We all really enjoyed our holiday. The accommodation was to a high standard and it was great to have a swimming pool a few feet away. We were lucky to have the swimming pool to ourselves each time we visited.
Alan
The lodges were equipped to a very high standard and spotless The main lounge was light and airy and the kitchen had everything Andy the on site manager was helpful and made our stay very pleasant Use of the Warner Leisure Hotel on site was great and the parkland setting was fabulous s We would have no hesitation in staying at this location again
Gayle
Lovely lodges and very well equipped. Booked for next year
Alison
Beautiful lodge loved the layout and outlook. And lucky with the weather too. Everything we could have needed in the lodge and the underfloor heating was great. The hot tub wasn't the best we've been in as the jets werent powerful but to be fair we didn't mention it during our stay, only as we were leaving. Free bike hire too if wanted. Would definitely consider staying again.
Lucy
Such a lovely relaxing place to holiday and friendly staff. Exceptionally clean accommodation and like home-from-Home.
