It’s an absolute necessity for all of us to get away from time to time and enjoy a minibreak away, far from the everyday stresses and strains of daily life.
A bit of time to think, some peace and quiet, the countryside, and plenty of of time to relax is just what’s needed on a break away, and we think Yorkshire is just the place to do so. With a huge choice of holiday accommodation, we’ve picked the best places to stay on mini breaks in Yorkshire.
Bramblewick, Robin Hood’s Bay
A gorgeously spacious coastal cottage, this property offers magical views over the beautiful coastline of Robin Hood’s Bay and the North York Moors National Park, perfect for a Yorkshire mini break near the sea.
Get snuggled up in front of the fire after a day at the beach, and take in those precious views. The property is beautifully furnished throughout, with one bedroom with an en suite with a romantic bathtub for two.
There is a lovely garden outside which even features a pizza oven for those al fresco dinners and barbecues. When you fancy getting out and about, there are some lovely towns and cities nearby to explore, with some fantastic dining on your doorstep.
Old Station Farm, Malton
This wonderful Georgian cottage is the perfect play to stay for a Yorkshire mini break for all the family or a large group of friends. There are luxurious period features, including high ceilings, fireplaces, antique furniture, and large sash windows and stylish décor throughout. There’s an Aga oven to warm the entire cottage as well as a roaring log fire for those cosy evenings after busy days out exploring.
With plenty of space, there are six charming bedrooms, three of which have four poster beds and ensuites. The beautiful gardens are perfect for relaxing with a glass of wine or an alfresco dinner. A short stroll brings you to the charming village and local pub, tea rooms, and weekly market to collect fresh product for your evening meal.
The Station House, Whitby
The Station House is a unique property that oozes character, thanks to its origins back to the Victorian era as an old station and stationmaster’s house in the village of Ruswarp. Ideal for those seeking a mini break in the country with a difference, the house boasts period features including stained glass window, slate fireplace, and mullioned windows for a gorgeously historic touch.
Traditionally furnished, there’s a woodburner to keep you warm in the evenings, as well as an Aga for great cooking. Enjoy the courtyards to watch steam trains puff through the village with a cold drink or two, and be sure to explore the local area.
The adorable village of Ruswarp has a lovely local pub and small independent shops, and guests can boat on the river or visit a tearoom. There’s also the impressive Moors countryside to explore, as well as the beautiful coastal region.
Lodges in Yorkshire for Mini Breaks
There are also amazing lodges in Yorkshire which would be ideal for mini breaks. Most lodges offer 3 night weekend breaks or you can go on a Monday and come home on a Friday if you have more flexibility.
Quite often 4 night breaks can be the same price as 3 night weekend breaks so it can make sense to go during the week if you can.
Lodges in Yorkshire cover areas such as The Moors and The Dales not forgetting gorgeous coastal towns and villages too. Just a few of of the lodges we love in this area for mini breaks include The Bay Filey, Griffon Forest, Faweather Grange and Oakwood Lodges. If you like to take your pets on a mini break then Keldy is a dog friendly place with many lodges offering pet friendly deals. The woodland setting at Keldy is delightful and you can even take guided walks around the forest with a ranger. We did this on our Keldy mini break and we even spotted a deer on our way back to the lodges!
