Check inThe confirmation email tells you to please call the park ahead of your arrival for check in information but no one answers the reception phone and returns voicemails that are left. When I initially tried the mobile number I was told that he was the maintenance man, and I would need to call the office for details of how to check in! I tried several times over the week before we were due to check in to get a response from the office. I contacted Hoseasons who did not have any other contact information and just told me to turn up!We turn up to an empty office and a staff member comes across and we ask to check in. We are provided with a form to fill in and get asked for a £150 bond deposit this can be in cash or on your card.LodgeThe lodge is located up near the corner of the site which is accessed by a very noisy gravel drive (we were woken several times during the week by the painter arriving at 07:30am in his car no fault of his he was a quiet worker through the day). Even walking on the gravel was noisy it is loud because the site is so quiet! The beautiful canal side setting that is described in the description on Hoseasons is incorrect as you could not see it for the number of trees, hedges and shrubs that were overgrown. You knew it was their as you could hear the fishermen talking and the smell of weed wafting from that side was horrific one afternoon we had to sit inside. The lodge was lovely and clean on arrival. There are tea coffee, sugar and milk sachets to get you started plus dishwasher tablets and washing up liquid. The beds were comfortable and robes were provided. There are two double bedrooms and one king size bedroom each with their own on suite, there is also a separate WC and utility room (the washing machine handle was broken so we could not use it!) The king size bedroom on suite had a shower above the bath unfortunately the shower head was broken and would not stay up.The fibre optic wifi did not work for us the whole week we were there. I tried to report it to the office (unattended) a member of staff approached me and I explained the issue with the wifi and that we had turned it off several times and left it off over night but it still was not working. Staff member shrugged and said I do not know! I also mentioned that we only had four forks and three teaspoons, and could we have some more cutlery (the lodge sleeps 6 people so thats not great), the cutlery was filthy and had to be scrubbed clean. When booking the lodge in June 2024 the description stated that the lodge has full Sky package (we have a lot of sports fans who wanted to keep up with the matches that were on over the bank holiday weekend) but we were told by the maintenance man that the Sky had been removed some time ago! So now I have some really unhappy campers in the lodge no wifi and no sky sports! I had limited signal on my phone, and they all tethered to my mobile signal the whole time we there! The flatscreen TVs that are in the bedroom have no remotes and we could not get these to work so they may as well removed! The sofas have seen better days they low and when you sit on them the bottom cracks so are quite clearly broken! They are both very uncomfortable to sit on and need replacing. The lodge looked tired in places on the doors where it was worn.OutsideThe deck has been replaced in places but there were still holes and it was soft under foot in places/felt like it may collapse, there are signs around the deck regarding it being slippery in certain weather conditions. There were several raised planks and screws sticking up so will cause injuries when getting in and out of the hot tub in bare feet. The hot tub was a fours seat hot tub (lodge sleeps 6) and had holes that had been filled with filler so quite clearly had seen better days, the hot tub will not be up to temperature until the day after your arrival and will be emptied at 8am on departure day according to the notices. There are notices telling you not take glass into the hot tub but no plastic glasses are provided. We had an outside dining table but only two chairs so when we ate outside we had to move the dining chairs onto the deck so we could eat.CheckoutYou need to check out by 9am and if you have paid a cash deposit you will need to wait for your lodge to be checked before the deposit is returned. On checkout again the office was not manned and a member of staff took the keys from me. I had to ask her to make a note of some of our issues whilst on site so that they could be reported to maintenance/owner light bulb out in the hall, shower head in the kingsize bedroom, the washing machine door, the sky (which we were told that Hoseasons should have removed from the listing), and the wifi not working.

The cabin we were in was very warm and inviting. The hot tub was the best and its everything that you needed for a break away or a romantic trip. There was no noise from other's even in the day. It was clean, well equipped and a fantastic pleasure to spend the weekend in cant wait to return already booked.

Nice lodge but with issues, door not closing properly, decking needs attention, hot tub was cracked and sealed and the jets were not working. We spent more money for the luxury but didn't feel this was up to the evermore collections that we usually get.

Excellent site. Very quiet. Helpful staff. The lodge we stopped in was very spacious and had everything we needed. The hot tub was private and well cover around the edges via a wooden fence. However it was in need of a little bit of TLC. The lock on the main bathroom did not work, the trims on the door were peeling away, there is not rubber seal on the bottom of the shower screen which meant the water came underneath it. All the doors require a little WD40 as they are very creaky and loud. We would have preferred an earlier check in and later check out. That been said, the above did not affect the enjoyability and relaxing state of our stay! I will more than likely return.

Lovely weekend stay at Ashby Wounds Lodges. Spacious, clean lodge, just a few snags (dishwasher was out of order, a couple of lights in one of the bedrooms didn't work, kitchen blind had come away from the wall), but this didn't spoil our stay at all. Hot tub was perfect temperature mid-evening on our first night. Spa treatments were amazing. Location peaceful, our lodge overlooked the canal which was a bonus. A short drive away from supermarkets, and lots of lovely walks around. Would definitely return.

Ive just returned from a weekend at the Ashby Woulds Lodges and Spa with my husband, our young baby (10m) and my parents. Our lodge was exactly as described and pictured and we were not disappointed. We had a good communal area with the living room, kitchen and dining area being the hub for us. We also had a nice barbecue area outside, as well as a private decking and a (clean!) hot tub. What we really enjoyed was how quiet it was - we were in the lodge right next to reception with the car park so worried about noise a bit but it was very peaceful. The bedrooms and bathroom were pretty basic but exactly as pictured so it was what we were expecting! The staff were absolutely incredible! I accidentally booked the wrong arrival date and they were so wonderful sorting this out for us. We also had trouble working the oven and they had somebody round in ten minutes to have a look and help us. They really were lovely! We were staying for a wedding and had a group of friends staying in another lodge too. My advice when booking is to check the pictures as they are very accurate - some have deckings with a view of the water, some dont have outdoor hot tubs etc. Overall we were happy with our stay at the lodge!

Accommodation is tired and needs refreshed. We were told on arrival that the hottub had developed a leak that afternoon, and Hosaesons just told the site that only alternative was to cancel the holiday or switch off the hottub, but they refuse to ruin someone's holiday, as the hottub is usable just needing top up as required, they are letting us stay and they will top it up each morning. I think this is the story that is given to every new arrival at Lodge number 3.Considering we paid nearly £700 for 7 nights in a lodge described as Deluxe, we had:The two bathrooms have patches of mould. The decking is rotting to the point of being unsafe. When it rains, decking is a slip hazard. The main bathroom shower screen is missing the seal between the bath so the floor floodsThe other shower has poor pressure. The walls have numerous holes and scrapes. The couch is stained. The carpet is worn and coming away at the joins. The dishes were dirty on arrival, we used the dishwasher which doesn't wash properly, resulting in having to hand wash all week. The washing machine leaves a distinct smell, even after buying and using a washing machine cleaner.

a well stocked lodge but possibly the most uncomfortable bed in history!Disappointed to have to ask for the hot tub to be refilled and disappointed that I was told that a hot tub did not need any jets.....

Stayed in the Oak Deluxe 6 in Ashby Woulds .. lodge was very nice had all the amenities you need , kitchen was well equipped and living space nice and big and smart TV which was a god send for my 2 year old. However bed was very uncomfortable for me and my wife .. I like a hard bed but my lord it was beyond hard! Outside area with hot tub is very tired and could do with a revamp.. as in decking is rotted by hot tub and needs restraining or replacing as doesnt look great. hot tub was nice and hot however you can see its old as has cracks that have been repaired in the tub itself , and also on the Saturday after a long day out we fancied a nice soak however the tub was half empty and feeezing cold. So unsure what had happened though out the day for it to be like that , but as we were leaving the next day we were not that bothered. Overall a nice stay and perfect location for what we needed near family etc and would probably come back again.

The lodges need updating. They look really tired. On our last day we had to be out for 09:30 which is fine but the staff was outside our lodge emptying our hot tub right outside our window to the bedroom at about 8:30 when we where trying to get ready. Why can't they wait until we are gone, like everywhere else.

Absolutely lovely place with great facilities. The camp site is beautiful and very quiet. We had an issue with the hot tub not working and a guy came down within the hour to fix it. The rooms are really spacious and the place was very clean. They dont post the kitchen utensils online so we were very unsure of what to bring but its a fully equipped kitchen with everything you need from wine glasses to a siv, cheese grater and even place mats for the table. They provide washing up supplies, as well as supplies for a washing machine and dishwasher. Milk was provided in the fridge and tea and coffee. The only thing you will need to bring is toilet roll as we werent given full rolls and they didnt last long. Everything looked lovely and we had everything we needed, thoroughly enjoyed our weekend here.

After spending 4 days here, I absolutely fell on my feet with the weather! Every day was bright, beautiful sunshine, which made my stay extra special. Overall, I had a lovely, relaxing stay in beautiful countryside, seeing lots of wildlife, sunsets and peacefulness. The lodge itself ( Altham ) is in a wonderful spot, overlooking two fishing lakes and in the top corner. All day sunshine and not overlooked in most areas. Facilities were wonderful, the freestanding bath tub being my favourite as well as the bright pink chaise longe! However, I do think the lodge (now obviously a good few years old) needs tlc. There were more than a few things that need attention. There was a loose decking board just next to the steps which could have been lethal, no planting next to the lodge ( just bare soil ) which was disappointing and the lack of a gate which would have afforded much more privacy whilst in the hot tub ( which desperately needs replacing !! ) I do think as a seasoned lodge stayer, this is the oldest hot tub I've used. The jets were not great, barely bubbling and I couldn't get the light to work. The keypad very worn. The lid was ridiculously heavy for just a lone lady traveller for most of my stay and hose pipes just left strewn on the decking which was an obvious hazard and unnecessary. So, to be honest the hot tub wasn't used much as it just didnt feel as luxurious as it should. It was checked at strange times too, like mid afternoon one day which I've never experienced before. Going back to the tlc, please, please bin the pillows!!!! All 4 were like wafers, just absolutely past their best! Giving me neck ache despite using two! Other than that, the bed was comfy. Blinds need replacing too as one was broken whilst the other barely closed, so light streamed in early morning. The bathroom was wonderful, but the vanity unit was very tired and the laminate coming away. The kitchen was well equipped, clean but very smeary on the glass hob when I arrived. Pans etc were not great quality and again, tired. Bigger bowls were needed as eating cereal out of a dolls teaset bowl was ridiculous!! The mugs were also not all matching which is a shame.Maybe a speaker to link phones to, and a chrome cast TV would have made my stay better too. I think for this price point, mod cons should be available. There were so many beautiful walking routes to explore, a caf within a ten minute walk, co op 2mins drive away, everything is there for a wonderful stay but like I say, there were a few things that need attention with the lodge, that and the very late checkin time of 5pm and early 9.00am check out which makes me shy from the full 5 stars.

A very nice lodge, with sufficient equipment for 6 guests & very clean & well maintained throughout. The addition of a hot tub was very welcome as we had good weather during our stay.
