Overall the holiday was good however a few minor things did ruin the experience.Lovely park and the view is great. We stayed in the Retreat otter lodge which is nicely decorated and great having the log burner. The hottub had been drained for changeover so was luke warm water on arrival which we fully expected for the first night. However, on the 2nd morning the hottub was drained and refilled again for some reason which meant it was not useable again for the full day and night as the water was freezing cold which was disappointing considering we were only there for 4 nights and it was the best day we had weather wise. A few minor things were having 2 towels for 4 days we struggled to get them dry, no mop is provided for the lodge so the floor does get quite dirty.

Everything about the lodge was of a high standard. Being a pet friendly lodge, you couldn't tell. It was spotless and the smell when we entered was amazing. The bedding and towels were great quality and you even got a dressing gown which was great for when you used the hot tub.

Excellent lodge in a very tranquil setting. Staff are on top of maintenance of the lodges and park everyday. We will definitely return. Few tweaks that could be done is a mop and bucket for the floor and more cutlery, plates as the sink isnt really big enough to wash dishes and I like a full load in a dishwasher. An on-site bar/restaurant would have been welcomed to meet some of the parks residential owners as it is a friendly place to stay.

Booked Largo Law as a last minute break, for 4 nights and it was fabulous. Spotlessly clean, spacious and cosy warm despite it being -4 degrees outside. Both bedrooms were spacious and have dressing rooms which was great, and the showers to both bathrooms were really powerful. The views across the Forth towards Edinburgh were amazing, especially when in the hotub. Its on a quiet park which has good access roads for visiting St Andrews and Fife. The only very minor point was the bed pillows could have been fuller. We had a lovely stay and will definitely be back.

Despite the error by hoeseasons keep saying we are stopping in "Bonny view" we actually booked and stayed in "Fourth view" Fourth view lodge was lovely. Spotlessly clean beds were soft and comfortable. Walk in wardrobes in both rooms. The room with two single beds were proper size beds and plenty of space. The bathroom (not the ensuite) was a good size. The only issue we had with it was the shower didn't drain very quickly, which made the shower tray fill up quickly. In turn made it leak into the bathroom. We Found a simple fix of removing the top of the trap which let the water drain away and stopped any flooding. We had a little issue with a horrible smell in the living area if the windows etc had been kept shut. I reported it and the lady sent someone to check if was the pipes. We didn't smell it again.Hoeseasons advertised there was WiFi on site. There isn't WiFi. So make sure.you have a lot of data. A bigger issue which could have been a problem. Hoeseasons tell you that check in is AFTER 5pm. It is actually after 4pm because reception closes at 5pm then there is no staff on site.We were lucky we turned up 10mins early.Hoeseasons tell you check out by 9, it is actually by 10.The pub on site never opened.Dryers are £2.50 for 90.mins.Not alot in the advertised shop on site. Most of the leaflets in the laundry room out from years ago so check prices etc before you go.

Brilliant & cosy cottage far enough out the way to be secluded but close enough to local amenities. Amazing hotub & bathroom with underfloor heating throughout tops it off. The owners, Rob & Sharon are wonderful! (And of course Bonnie) Will definitely be coming back again for longer ASAP!!
Emma
Beautiful cottage with hot tub and log burner. lovely hosts, peaceful, perfect for our mini break. Hope to return for longer soon!
Phoebe
Really well equipped house, lovely and warm too which was so nice on a rainy December day! Bath was just lovely and a nice big shower! The property is under a flight path - this did not disturb us at all! Dont be put off! A great location for dogs who hate fireworks as it's in the middle of nowhere. Really beautiful, well converted property. Thank you!
Andrew
It was everything we wanted for our weekend away and we loved staying here. We'll definitely be back! Our pups absolutely loved the underfloor heating and had so much fun in the garden. In fact Luna came home with a strained tail and according to the vet it was because she was wagging it so much over the weekend!! Very happy pups and hoomans!
Simon
Lovely cottage. Great location for us. Away from the hustle and bustle. Great hot tub . Lovely helpful non intrusive owners. They have it just right!
Brooke
Absolutely loved how well maintained and equipped this cottage is. Plenty of dog walks right on the doorstep. Very friendly host, they were so efficient and communication was excellent. We enjoyed meeting the animals on the farm and the very curious pig penelope. Perfect escape for us and the doggos. Will definitely be back, brilliant value!! Highly recommend.
Libby
Beautiful property, spotlessly clean, well equipped and very comfortable, had a fabulous break, hot tub amazing x
James
Very kind and considerate owners. Couldnt be better. Enormously helpful and extremely pleasant. Charming half-timbered cottage with a great strong shower, cosy kitchen & living room combination and very comfortable bed. Fantastic parking directly next to the rented cottage. Well heated and very charming, and spotlessly clean. Great walks across the fields to the local village of Thaxted and of course within easy travelling distance of the village, replete with half-timbered houses and windmill.
Annemieke
We had a wonderful time in Goddard Mead. The cottage was very complete and there were walks on the doorstep. The welcome and stay was very warm. The owners are lovely people.
Carol
The owners Rob & Sharon, have gone to a great deal of work to sympathetically convert this historic building & we couldn't have had a warmer greeting from them both & of course Bonnie. Goddard's Mead has everything you need for a relaxing and comfortable stay. The location is in a great area of Essex and would recommend taking the time to wander around Thaxted and other villages/towns nearby to discover it's fascinating history & buildings.
Inderjit
Such a lovely place to stay in a really beautiful, private location. The owners were really friendly and helpful, nearby if needed but without breaking that sense of privacy. The hot tub was perfect after a day of cycling! One thing to be aware of, the cottage is right under Stansted's flight path, and so there's a lot of aircraft noise. It only took us a couple of hours to get used to it and it didn't spoil our holiday at all, but something to be aware of if you're sensitive to noise.
Richard
The lovely cottage is situated on a working farm, but is very private. The owners, Robert and Sharon, are delightful. The cottage is very spacious with good equipment in the kitchen and the bathroom. The bed is really comfortable. The garden is secluded; dog proof and with good furniture. There are numerous walks around. Thaxted has good restaurants. We liked The Star and The Maypole. The Swan and the Indian are not bad either. We thoroughly recommend this place.
Denise
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and Sharon and Robert were great hosts and made us feel very welcome. The accommodation had everything we needed and was clean, comfortable and secure for our dog Archie. The location was ideal too with plenty of walks to find and Thaxted and surrounding villages are lovely places to visit. We felt our batteries had certainly been recharged during our week and we enjoyed our relaxing break!
Sharon
Stayed here for a week from 15 to 22 July with our 2 mini daschund girls who thoroughly enjoyed there stay making new friends in the village of thaxted. The cottage is lovely especially the hot tub a bonus as it was the hottest days of the year so the water was coolled so it was more refreshing the hosts were very welcoming was nice to see there horses being taken to the fields each day you are on the flight path near stansted but I enjoyed watching the planes come in would definitely recommend
Fleur
Lovely accommodation, very peaceful and relaxing and great for dogs as the garden is fully inclosed

Lovely friendly owners. Couldnt do enough when the power went down due to the storm. Very well equipped and clean. Very warm cottage. Our dog enjoyed the enclosed outside space and us the hot tub!
Georgina
Perfect venue for a quiet break away. Sharon and Robert have thought of everything to make your stay enjoyable and comfortable. Although this was our second visit it definitely will not be our last.
Sarah
Beautiful cottage in a lovely quiet location. Ideal to escape and relax. Hot tub was amazing and the cottage was immaculate with everything you needed. Lots of walks close by and within the village reach. Had such a wonderful time. Couldnt recommend enough.
