decided to book a Carisbrooke view Premier Lodge to celebrate my mums 70th birthday. However, on our first night we all gone to bed there was a loud nibbling and scratching sound coming from under the kitchen cupboard skirting boards. Once we investigated we could hear there was some kind of rodent under the kitchen cupboard skirting boards trying to get out. Then the sleepless night started we all went to bed only to hear the sound of claws running around. I opened my bedroom door and to my horror saw a rat running around in the lounge. We all barricaded ourselves in the bedroom. My mum was crying because she hates rats. None of us got any sleep as all we could hear was the rat scratching and running up and down the hallway. In the morning I went straight to reception and explained what had happened and showed them the video we had taken. The receptionist told me they would just send pest control to take a look. I really had to demand to change lodges as I wasnt prepared to stay in a lodge with a disease carrying rat. Within the hour I was told I could change lodges so absolutely shattered we all had the task of packing up our belongings and moving to another lodge and unpacking all again, after this we all went to sleep for the best part of the day, so both Friday night and Saturday was ruined for my mums celebration. Definitely not a relaxing retreat that I had paid for as we all left feeling stress and very tired. After this terrible experience, I spoke to the manager Ian who had no sympathy regarding the situation at all and told me I should expect to find rats in the lodge as I was staying by the coast, which I found to be shocking and a ridiculous excuse. Maybe they should start advertising this fact on their holiday booking website. So if youre looking for a relaxing rat free retreat with great customer service then DO NOT GO HERE.

We cannot say how much we enjoyed our recent short break. It was worth paying a little extra to have a lodge with immediate access to the beach and good views. We loved this site because it was very quiet and peaceful. The lodge was in very good order, well equipped and warm!

We returned yesterday from a week at "Osborne View Premier". The view from the lodge was stunning, but I felt I needed to feedback on the rest of our experience, as to be honest we were really disappointed. We have stayed at Woodside 4 times before (as well as other Hoseasons properties elsewhere in the country) and it has always been beautiful and very comfortable and clean. Unfortunately, this stay was completely the opposite. On entering the property it was clear that air freshener or such like had been sprayed to cover (we found out later on) a horrible smell. There was dog hair EVERYWHERE, and I mean everywhere. In the fridge, caught under the baseboards of the kitchen (which were coming off), thick in the carpet so that if you walked on the carpet with wet feet you were covered. We were aware on booking that it was a pet friendly property, but we have booked these before and never had an issue. We did ask the cleaning team to give the sofas another go over with a hoover the first day because they were so bad, which they did a couple of days later. The sofas themselves were not only covered in dog hair, but worn (with holes in the fabric). The sofas were suede, and because they were so worn, they always felt cold and damp. We ended up going out and buying two throws to go over them. The kitchen needs redoing- the cupboard veneer was damaged and peeling off in a number of places, meaning it was very unhygienic as would be impossible to clean. The kickboards were coming off. The integrated fridge door has dropped so doesn't shut properly, meaning if you don't check it the food gets warm. The area under the dining table was absolutely filthy, and covered in dog hair. All of the edges of each room and skirting boards were thick with dust and dog hair and clearly hadn't been cleaned properly at all. When we left, I stripped off the beds like I always do. During the whole stay, there was a nasty smell in the double bedroom, and when I took the sheet off I discovered why. The mattress really was foul. There were snotty tissues underneath one of the single, and the double beds. So clearly a hoover hadn't been under there. The privacy film was torn on the twin room window and both of the bedroom windows were broken so there was a gap all around the frame. The ensuite window was stuck shut. The double bedroom was covered in unknown stains, the remnants of squished bugs and cobwebs. The most worrying thing of the whole trip was that there was loose medication (capsules) in the bottom of the room my two young daughters were staying in. Luckily, the older of the two knew what it was and came and told me. We did report this to reception at the time who were very apologetic, but obviously we were very concerned as this could have been fatal. I'm pretty sure the place was cleaner when I left than it was when I arrived, which was really upsetting given what we are used to from previous stays. We did try to go to reception when we checked out to feedback in person, but there was already a very cross lady in there complaining about something else, so we didn't want to make the reception lady's day worse! I have emailed Hoseasons separately to this review, and have included photos of all the above. It's unfortunate that you can't attach photos to the review itself.

The only thing that let the furniture down was the smell of the settees and how low down they were, we had to use our pillows off the beds as the settees had no support.

The Lodge was very nice but did have a few things to say, we notice there was an old packet of sweet down the side of one of the beds which was lucky we found as thi was in the kids bedroom. The en suite had a flashing light that was becoming a pain after a couple of day. Maybe I should of reported it but I didn't want to be too fussy as we had called many of times to have the boiler fixed. We also noticed there was no hair dryer which was listed as being in the cabin and one of the kids found a bedsheet with a stain on it that isn't always nice. These were only minor issues and the enjoyment we had trumped all these little 5 minute fixes.

Just arrived home from a fabulous stay in an Osbourne View lodge. The views and the lodge itself were amazing, we thoroughly enjoyed our peaceful and relaxing time there. So much so, weve booked again for next year. The site was clean and well maintained and the staff were very polite and friendly. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing holiday.

We have been to this site many times over the years, there has always been a good standard of quality on site in lodges. In this Lodge, Tennyson premier lodge, there were a number of shabby issues due to wear and age. Cupboards in the kitchen were in need of repair, washing machine door, rusty frying pan only 2 saucepans for making food for eight people. Lack of cupboard space for storing food. Bed in first bedroom was missing decoration, which just looked needing repair.

We've stayed at Woodside Coastal retreat for several years now & enjoyed the experience so much we took my sister-in-law with us last year.We love the tranquil atmosphere & close vicinity to all of our favourite attractions. The lodges we stayed in numbers 22 & 24 do need some tlc.Things like a little tear in the wallpaper that would easily be sorted with a drop of adhesive or the kick plate under the refrigerator that's not been replaced certainly since our last stay. These maybe small niggles that wouldn't cost much to put right but give the impression that attention to detail is not a priority. The lodges are not cheap by any means & surely there must be a maintenance budget to rectify there issues. That said, we were late going into our lodge last week as the boiler was leaking & the plumber arrived early Saturday evening & replaced a part to repair it & light bulbs were replaced when we asked. It appears that if you report a issues it's corrected very quickly. My recommendation would be to employ a house keeper to give the lodges a quick once over once the cleaners have been to check everything is in order. All of the above will not stop us visiting again next year though.

The lodge was clean and tidy but facilities in the kitchen were very tired and worn. The Wifi signal was poor and dipped in and out all the time. The towel rail/radiator in the ensuite bathroom got very very hot and although there is a notice warning of this it is very small and not immediately obvious. There is a real danger that you could burn yourself getting out of the shower.
