Visitor Reviews of Waveney River Centre

Date of stay: 6th November 2024
We absolutely LOVE Waveney River Centre, this is our third visit and no doubt wont be the last! Waveney River Centre has a wonderful relaxed and quiet atmosphere surrounded by nature. The loathes are lovely in size and well maintained, the site has a nice restaurant/pub, and lovely indoor swimming pool. The only downside is that the convenience store is now quite small, so Id advise stocking up on supplies before arriving, but saying that Beccles is only 20mins drive away and has supermarkets and wonderful cafes (highly recommend Twyfords Cafe).

Lodge was nice. Very close to lodge next door and hot tub overlooked but no one in that lodge so not a problem. Lodge was basic but good.

Our kids (5 & 7) both loved the location, being next to a nature reserve with ducks and swans meant there was always something to see from the lodge windows. The onsite playground was great for short entertainment too.

Settees were a bit saggy and the fridge had no shelves in the door, but everything else was lovely

Lodge was a bit run down and needs attention. Decking slippy and unattended, guttering blocked and overflowing. Joins of guttering not sealed so water just flows through onto the ramp. Accessible ramp goes into heavy gravel so using any kind of mobility aids would be difficult. Lightning around the site was poor and made taking the dogs out at night hard work. Only one poo bin on the site. Expected phone signal to be poor but internet was intermittent at best and tv did not connect so unable to watch films or anything while stuck inside due to the rain. Recliner couch did not work. Hot tub temperature was quite tepid at only 1 degree above body temperature. Had issue with onsuite shower but this was fixed very promptly. On site pub is only open at weekends and Mondays. Swimming pool area is run down and hot tub not working. Clean up team arrived at the lodge 1 hr before check out making us feel pressured to get a move on. Staff on site were pleasurable and polite but very few on site and did not know anything about the local area. Unless you want a walking holiday with little amenities I would not recommend this site.

Great week at the Wavney River Centre. Quiet, family friendly and dogs welcome . The pool is small but we swam a few times. Booking a lodge with a hot tub was also enjoyed by all. Pub does good typical pub food and the little shop sells the basics. Helpful friendly staff. Slightly irked that you have to pay extra for unreliable wifi hence only a good rating for facilities. The road in and out is narrow and you may need to reverse if you meet a tractor but once out we enjoyed Beccles, Lowestoft and Gaulston beach.

We spent a week at Burgh Staith 5 bed accommodation and had a fabulous weekThe Hot Tub was a definite bonus as my 3 younger grandchildren spent most of the time in it when at property. The property was clean with plenty of en-suites / bathrooms and very spacious which was ideal as there were 10 of us.The kitchen was well equipped with plenty of pots/pans, cutlery and crockery etc. I would certainly return if we wanted to stay again in Suffolk/Norfolk

We stated in Broadview Lodge and it was lovely. It was well laid out and comfortable for the 3 of us and our dog.The hot tub is well screened and feels private and the deck offered nice views out to the countryside

You should know that in order to receive wifi you need to pay, and the swimming pool is also payable and time slotted. The ferry (probably due to the time of the year) had to be booked at reception

Peaceful but very remote. We were fortunate with good weather otherwise it would have been disappointing. Only walks are along the two single track roads leading to the centre and footpaths through fields, not good in the rain.

The lodge was a great size, there were a couple of small maintenance issues, but they were attended to quickly.General cleanliness was good, but think a deeper clean is required.

My wife and I stayed 19/2/24 until 23/2/24 so we appreciate it was out of season but we felt like they have crammed too many Lodges in a small place. Whilst the hot tub was fantastic it felt like we was on display as everyone could see you in it from all angles, a bit more privacy would of made us relax more. The weather was not kind to us so the ferry was not operating so if we wanted to go for a walk the only option was to walk along the single track road which we decided against. The Lodge itself was absolutely perfect well cleaned and maintained apart from paying for the WiFi which was very hit and miss as to whether you could get online or not. Overall we enjoyed our stay here.

The lodge was okay but was missing some of the basic items we'd expect to be there (washing up bowl, dish cloth, bed side lamps, hand soap). Some kitchen items were in a poor state (pan/kettle/knife handles loose). Advertised Internet is a charged extra and limited to 1 device with a charge of £5 for each additional one, not ideal given the number of devices a family will have. WiFi strength was also very poor and prevented access in the rear half of the property. The hot tub was also turned off and drained before we'd left on our final day! Having said that, facilities such as the shop and swimming pool were good, and those issues reported to staff were fixed quickly. We still enjoyed the holiday!

Had a great time. Weve stayed several times and will be back in March. The property is fabulous but we have noticed that it is starting to show signs of wear and tear and could do with a general spruce up. New sofas are lovely. There wasnt 12 of everything as there should have been. Stove has a couple of rings not working even though the gas check inside cupboard door that was done in March has highlighted it.
