With a stunning elevated setting on the banks of the River Esk, Captain Cooks Haven is perfect for families or couples looking to enjoy a relaxing holiday within easy reach of lively seaside towns and beautiful countryside.

The cottages are set on two levels and most afford breathtaking views. The site is small and has a friendly feel and good facilities. The indoor heated swimming pool comes in handy on rainy days and there is also a play area for children, a communal BBQ area and picnic tables. A launderette is also onsite.

The seaside town of Whitby is just a mile away offering glorious sandy beaches, amusement arcades, fish and chip shops and several popular attractions including Whitby Abbey. Those who enjoy outdoor pursuits can head to the nearby Yorkshire Moors to enjoy walking, cycling, fishing and golf. Other local attractions include the Sealife Centre at Scarborough and Castle Howard. The bustling city of York is also just a short drive away.

There are several types of cottages to choose from at Captain Cooks Haven. Cooke's Cottages are the largest available and sleep 6. These impressive three storey cottages offer open plan living rooms, fitted kitchens, three bedrooms and a balcony with stunning views. Resolution Bungalows are ideal for smaller families and sleep 4. They have well equipped kitchens with dishwashers and two bedrooms as well as spacious living rooms. We arrived during a very cold spell, it was not until the next morning, that we felt warm, it would have been great if someone had put the heating boost on before our arrival. On a normal day it would have been fine.

Joanne
We had a great 4 days here at Whitby. Would recommend for anyone. Not sure what all the bad reviews are for on the main sites and trip adviser?! There were 3 families stayed for a 4 night break in our parties. All accommodation was adequate, some a little smarter than the others, but all clean and perfectly suitable for our families of 4. We're looking at booking again this year!
RACHEL
This is a brilliant location for a break. It lies on the banks of the River Esk, and from our cottage we could watch the steam trains. Great for walks, day trips into Whitby and surrounding countryside. Well equipped cottages. Brilliant value for money.
Kimberley

Brian
Easter weekend in typical Bank Holiday weather says it all. Lovely location and great accomodation made it worthwhile .
Deborah
We have been visiting Captain Cooks Haven for 22 years - still fantastic - still love it.
Janice
It is the second time I've taken my grandchildren. We love Whitby and find it a convenient place to stay. They love the swimming pool . Could do with a better play area for older kids.
