Fun Days Out in Powys

Treasure Island Fun Centre is situated in the Anglesey area of North of Wales and there is really no better place to take children on a rainy day. The fantastic all weather attraction features a huge array of slides, chutes, climbing frames, ball pools and mazes. Energetic kids can really let of steam while the grown ups can relax in the cafe with a drink and a snack. There are separate areas four younger children to play safely, so no one is left out of the fun.

Penrhyn Castle is a neo-Norman castle is located in the stunning Gwynedd region of Wales. The castle will appeal to those who enjoy sites of historical interest as well as to families looking to enjoy a fun day out. The Castle is in very good condition and guided tours are on offer. Don't miss a look at the grand hall with its exquisite collection of paintings or the Victorian Kitchen which gives amazing insight into the running of the Castle. Other highlights include the Servants Rooms and the one ton slate bed which was originally made for Queen Victoria.

This attraction is really something special and has reached the finals of the "Best Family Day Out" category in the National Tourism Awards for Wales.  It's actually the only attraction in North Wales to be shortlisted for this prestigious award. Located in the Snowdonia region there are many rides and activities including Jungle Boat Adventure, Den Building, Green Dragon Roller Caoster, Treetop Towers and the BareFoot Trail.  Kids of all ages will love it here and we think it's excellent value as well.

Located in the North of Wales with a spectacular setting high above Colwyn Bay this is a lovely zoo which makes an excellent family day out.  Highlights include the Chimp Encounter, Penguin Parades, Bear Falls and the Children's Farm.  The setting is perfect for walking around and you can take in the superb scenery, roam the wooded pathways and relax on the grassy slopes.  There are many rare and endangered species to see and learn about including the Snow Leopards and the Red Pandas not to mention the Sumatran Tigers. You can also buy the experience of being a zoo keeper for a day, either for yourself or as a gift.

The lodge was clean and warm and the kitchen had everything I required to cook a family Xmas dinner. We did have a leak above the lounge windows in a rain storm but we just placed towels underneath no damage done and it didnt spoil anything

The only downside was the shower. The hot/cold was very intermittent and the power of the shower wasn't great. Everything else was great and we would still come back again. It was a really cosy lodge, perfect for a few days.

We stopped at Foxgloves which is really large but homely. We have stopped there in the summer and in November and the heating works well.

Each bedroom is roomy and all the facilities are great.

We had such a lovely time the staff went above and beyond to help us and were always so lovely. The lodge was beautiful as well as the surroundings. Would defiantly recommend to anyone looking to get away from everything and just take a quite relaxing break.
Chris
Spent 4 nights away towards the end of November and it was great. Located far enough away from anything to feel relaxed and peaceful, yet close enough to towns/bars to not feel isolated. Perfect.
Cheryl
We have been visiting these lodges for the last 10 years, staying at many of the cabins, sometimes with our dog too (the dog friendly cabins are very clean and fresh also) We visit out of season with our friends for a long weekend. Our aim when we come is to relax after a busy year, so we don’t normally leave the lodge much. The kids can go out and explore and we know that they are safe. We do the annual walk along the canal to the nearby village to the tea shop for cake (yum!) The lodges are very roomy (8 of us easily share the Crows Nest without getting under each other’s feet) The last couple of years we have visited the weekend before Christmas and have had our own early Christmas, as the 2 families don’t get to see each other otherwise over the festive period. We easily cook a Christmas dinner with the equipment and facilities provided. The cabins are a little dated furniture-wise but to us, that adds to the charm as it makes it extremely cosy. We love coming here - it’s our happy place. 😊
Graeme
very nice lodge and ideally situated in beautiful surroundings. Unfortunately the hotels are all in open view of other lodges and the road/path so everyone walking/driving can see you in the hot tub. I think this should be a bit more of a private thing.
Paul
Been coming here for 21 years we love the peaceful setting and come for a break to relax food at the nags head is amazing
Sophie
Lovely place, we have stayed here 5 times now in two different lodges the Toft and little Log and they are both lovely. Very clean , staff are friendliness, beautiful walks, play area for children and animals what more can you want. Beautiful and quiet , very relaxing. Love watching the squirrels foraging for nuts / seeds which you can buy at the shop and bird watching. Thankyou for a lovely break.
